Learning to ride the tide
While in Barbados,it is difficult to keep away from the clear blue sea. Making the most of the four-day break,Indian cricketers Murali Vijay and R Vinay Kumar went surfing with mind guru Paddy Upton. But even after Upton gave the two an hour-long lesson on riding the wave,Vijay and Vinay couldnt get it right. Eventually,they settled for a swim.
Fishy tour operator
Talking of sea,some of the South African cricketers were taken for a ride by a smart tour-operator. Promising to take them out for fishing,the South Africans were charged 67 each. But all they got was a cruise with no stops on the way. Not losing heart,the duped fishing enthusiasts were planning another weekend trip.
Shastri travels light
Ravi Shastri still gets mobbed by fans around the world. But he was in no mood to sign autographs or pose for pictures,at the Barbados airport the other day. Shastri,along with fellow commentator and former Pakistan skipper Rameez Raja were left fuming as they were told that their luggage would be reaching a day late.
Happy with response
Though the crowds have not come in droves to fill up the stands,ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat is content with the response of local fans in embracing the T20 World Cup. We understood what we needed to do bring the people back to the grounds,8221; he says. 8220;It is showing now when the local supporters are allowed to do what they are familiar with,it makes a difference.
