The CBI has named former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal,whose nephew Vijay Singla is a main accused in the railway bribery case,as a prosecution witness. Singla and suspended Railway Board Member Mahesh Kumar are among the 10 chargesheeted in the case. Related: Cornered Congress fires Ashwani Kumar,Pawan Kumar Bansal Related: Bansal resigns as Railways Minister over bribery charges The CBI has submitted a list of 90 prosecution witnesses,including several senior railway officials,including former Railway Board chairman Vinay Mittal,who retired on June 30,and Railway Board Joint Secretary P Rajeshkaran. In its chargesheet,the CBI has said that Mahesh Kumar,who is accused of having bribed Singla for a lucrative posting,met Singla and other accused at Bansals official residence in Delhi in April. The CBI said co-accused Sandeep Goyal,Singlas alleged associate,also gave the landline number of Bansals residence to Mahesh Kumar,and asked him to speak to Singla on that number. The court has extended the judicial custody of eight accused,including Singla,Kumar and Goyal,till July 11,and has issued summons to two others,Andhra-based businessman M V Murali Krishna and Bangalore-based C V Venugopal,who are accused of having contributed Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively,as part of the bribe paid to Singla. While the duo have not been arrested so far,they have been named as acused in the chargesheet. The agency has said Singla had demanded a bribe of Rs 10 crore.
