Insisting that the Indian cricket has a bright future,former captain Chandu Borde said India can easily field two national teams because of the abundance of talented players in the country. 8220;Today,we have so much talent in our country that we can easily field two teams,8221; said Borde today while inaugurating a cricket academy named after him at a school in Noida. 8220;Indian cricket has a very bright future,8221; he added. 8220;However,players nowadays get more opportunities to showcase their talent because of the league system in the Ranji Trophy. In our days,it was knockout format,not many players could get more than one opportunity to prove themselves,8221; he said.
Gul knee on the mend
Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul will require another four to six weeks to make a complete recovery from his knee surgery. Gul,29,began the last phase of his rehabilitation program at the national cricket academy on Friday and said he was missing playing for the Pakistan team. 8220;It has been a frustrating time for me and I miss being with the Pakistan team. But right now I am just concentrating on regaining full fitness,8221; he said. Gul underwent a knee surgery in May in Australia after complaining of severe pain and swelling in his right knee during the tour to South Africa early in the year. 8220;I would say he requires another four to six weeks before he can get back to bowling,8221; PCB doctor Dr Sohail Saleem said.
ICC report release postponed
ICC8217;s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit8217;s report on the alleged corruption in the Bangladesh Premier League BPL is likely to be out after August 12 as the Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked the investigation body to submit its report after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. BCB president Nazmul Hassan said the report will be ready within the next nine days and also hinted that two other cricketers,whose names are doing the rounds in Bangladesh media,could be implicated in the corruption charges. 8220;I understand that the report will be completed by August 5,8221; Hassan told ESPNcricinfo. They ACSU wanted to submit it on August 8 or 9,but we asked them to come just after Eid on August 12 or 13, the BCB chief added.
