Zardari doesnt understand cricket,says Imran
Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan blamed President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday for the present mess and problems in Pakistan cricket. What do you expect when President Zardari himself knows nothing about cricket and he is chief patron of the board, Imran said. President Zardari has a personal liking for Ejaz Butt that is why he will never remove him as Chairman of the board (PCB), he added.
Gibson to coach WI
Antigua: Otis Gibson will take over as West Indies coach for the home series against Zimbabwe starting with the a Twenty20 match on February 28 in Port of Spain. Ottis will begin his appointment from the start of the home series against Zimbabwe. I think we need to take Ottis appointment in stride. He will be the head coach of the WICB,and not just head coach of the senior team. He will have responsibility for coaching right across all of our representative cricket teams, WICB said in a statement.
CA apologises for breach
Karachi: Cricket Australia have sent an unconditional apology to its Pakistan counterparts over the security breach in Perth. Cricket Australia has regretted the incident and said they were taking steps to ensure it does not happen again with any team, PCB COO Wasim Bari. Earlier,Pakistan sports minister Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani asked CA to beef up security at grounds and ban alcohol before it is too late. What if that person had a knife on him? He got there and could have done anything he wanted, Jakhrani was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.
Two Tests not enough
New Delhi: Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi questioned the efficacy of a two-Test series between India and South Africa and said Mahendra Singh Dhonis men should have played at least a best of three series. A two-match series is not enough to test the mettle of the teams. I wish that there should have been three or five matches in the forthcoming series between India and South Africa, Bedi told PTI.
Miandad threatens to resign
Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad threatened to resign from the Director-Generals post in Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday if the state of affairs dont improve and if they didnt start taking him seriously. They are not allowing me to do anything and I am bypassed in everything including areas which are supposed to come under my control, Miandad said. I have no problems resigning because I can earn more from other work. It is my duty to keep President Zardari informed of all that is happening in the board and team, he added.
