Deepika Kumari was the highest ranked Indian archer after the qualifications at the Archery World Cup Stage IV at Wroclaw Poland. Kumari rallied to qualify ninth in cold and rainy conditions in the individual rankings after totalling 1327 points. Her team mates L Bombayla Devi 1326,Rimil Buriuly 1277 and Dola Banerjee 1264 stood 11 th ,55 th and 61 st respectively. The women8217;s combined tally of 3930 placed them sixth in the team rankings. In the men8217;s,Priyank was the highest placed archer at 21 st place after tallying 1293 points. Tarundeep Rai 31st,Atanu Das 37th and Jayanta Talukdar was placed at 76 after qualifications. The men8217;s team combined total of 3849 pts placed them at sixth place.
Chelseas back-up plan for Roo
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has drawn up a contingency plan in the event he fails to land his number one target,Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney,before the transfer window closes on Sept. 2. The Europa League holders have already had two big-money offers for the unsettled England international rejected and Mourinho hinted after Sundays 2-0 win over Hull City that he would eventually make a third attempt to sign Rooney. Force India look to regroup
Refreshed after the F1 summer break,Force India drivers Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil are determined to repeat the performance they displayed in the first half season when they take on the track at the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend. 8220;I spent most of the time in Switzerland and did quite a lot of training. I8217;m coming back feeling fresh and ready for the big challenge in the second half of the season,8221; Sutil said. Di Resta said he hoped to do start afresh this weekend. 8220;We need to get the car working for us like before. In Budapest it was difficult to drive,but sometimes you get those tough weekends. Since then we have regrouped and analysed the races properly and hopefully this weekend will be a fresh start.
Tour de France clean,says UCI
The International Cycling Union says no riders tested positive for doping at the Tour de France after completing its analysis of 622 samples. UCI anti-doping manager Francesca Rossi says the program included 113 urine samples tested for EPO and 15 for steroids,22 blood samples tested for EPO-like substances and 18 for human growth hormone. Rossi says at a briefing 8220;we don8217;t have any adverse finding from the Tour de France.8221; The testing included 203 samples taken from riders in training and 419 during the three-week race,which was won by Chris Froome of Britain. A total of 443 blood samples and 179 urine samples were taken.
England sack womens coach
England soccer chiefs are searching for a new head coach and technical leader for women8217;s football after sacking team manager Hope Powell on Tuesday. Powell had been in charge of the women8217;s team for 15 years but came under increasing fire after England were knocked out in the group stages of Euro 2013 last month. FA general secretary Alex Horne said after 8220;the disappointment8221; of Euro 2013,8221;the time is right to make a change and for a fresh outlook8221;.
