Anirban pips Prom in play-off for title

Though Lahiri had a 4-stroke cushion going into the final round,he stood on level par with three holes to go,his four bogeys nullifying the advantage.

Despite hitting five bogeys for his first over-par score of the week and missing a 6-foot putt on the final hole in regulation play that could have sealed his victory,Anirban Lahiri kept his calm to emerge the wire-to-wire winner of the SAIL-SBI Open in his first hole play-off against Prom Meesawat.

Though Lahiri had a 4-stroke cushion going into the final round,he stood on level par with three holes to go,his four bogeys nullifying the advantage. Australias Scott Barr,who had been putting pressure with five birdies,was finally on top of the board as the Indian bogeyed the 16 th as well. Barr looked set to for a grandstand finish until a disastrous triple-bogey on the 17th hole.

With Meesawat and Lahiri tied at 14-under 274,playoff ensued on the 18 th. The Thai however,found the bushes on the right. And when Lahiri had a 5-feet birdie putt for victory,the Thai conceded.
