The BJP on Tuesday reacted cautiously to a declaration by Islamic groups that Islam does not allow terrorism, saying it would be welcome if it is put in practice.

8220;They said Islam does not permit terrorism. If it can be put in practice, it will be most welcome,8221; BJP spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters in New Dellhi.

8220;But world-over Islamic terrorism has increased. It will be good if they can create awareness about this all over the country,8221; he said.

Malhotra further said people, including medical and engineering students, have been caught in places like West Bengal and Hyderabad for having terror links.

8220;People in the country are now getting into it. Earlier, external forces like the ISI were fostering terrorism here,8221; he said.
