PATIALA, Aug 6: President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Amarinder Singh here today announced his 50-member team of new office-bearers of the PPCC. Most of the office-bearers are new faces in the PPCC even as the new Congress president has replaced district unit presidents of eight Punjab districts.

While an effort has been made to give representation to different groups of Congressmen, independent observers pointed out that several of those axed were staunch supporters of former PPCC chief and Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and also of the slain Chief Minister Beant Singh. Among the district Congress chiefs owing allegiance to the Beant Singh faction who have been replaced included the heads of Amritsar Rural, Mansa, Muktsar, and Ludhiana Urban.

These observers said that the new PPCC chief had tried to accommodate a large number of supporters of former Chief Minister Harcharan Singh Brar.

The following are the new DCC chiefs of eight districts: Sukhsarkaria 8212; Amritsar Rural, Charanjit Singh Channi 8212; Nawanshahar, Hardial Singh 8212; Patiala Rural, Ram Pal Dhaipe 8212; Mansa, Avtar Singh Sidhu 8212; Muktsar, Maheshinder Singh Nihalsinghwala 8212; Moga, Rakesh Pandey 8212; Ludhiana Urban and Harmohinder Singh 8212; Ludhiana Rural.
