
CHANDIGARH, Nov 27: The Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited is organising the 26th All-India Inter-State Electricity Boards Badminton Tournament at the Sector 42 Badminton Hall here.
Punjab State Electricity Board, Gujarat State Electricity Board, Maharashtra Electricity Board, Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Board, Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board, BSES Mumbai, Andhra State Electricity Board, Karnataka State Electricity Board and Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited are taking part in the meet.
HVPN chairman-cum-managing director Ranjit Ishar will inaugurate the meet tomorrow at 10.30 a.m. while Minister for State for Power and Public Relations Attar Singh Saini will distribute the prizes on December 1.
17 crore for sports
The Haryana Government was spending Rs 17 crore during the financial year on the promotion of sports against Rs 11 crore during the previous year. This was announced by Haryana Finance Minister Charan Dass Shorewala while inaugurating the 12th Haryana Roller Skating Championship here today.
The Finance Minister said that an international standard roller skating rink was coming up at Faridabad and a modern sports complex conforming to international standards was under construction in Yamunangar.
Archery meets
The 19th Sub-Junior FITA and Individual Round National Archery Championships will be held at Ajmer from January 8 to 10, according to message received by Ravinder Talwar, secretary of the Chandigarh Archery Association from Vijay Kumar Malhotra, president of the Archery Association of India.
The 21st Junior FITA and Individual Round Nationals Championship will be conducted at Vijayawada from January 28 to 31.
CGA meeting
The annual general body meeting of the Chandigarh Gymnastic Association will be held at Mount View on November 29 at 11 a.m. Election of new office-bearers is the main topic on agenda.
The state championship will be held from January 8 to 10 next year at Shivalik Public School, Sector 41.
