Poll panel censures Gujarat minister for code violation

The Election Commission has decided to censure Gujarat8217;s Tribal Development Minister Prabhatsinh Chauhan for violation of the code of conduct for using his official vehicle for election work. Chauhan used his official vehicle to travel to his native place, and on his way back to Gandhinagar met party workers from his constituency at the Godhra Circuit House.

The Commission issued him notice on October 23 to explain the misuse of his official position by using the official vehicle for non-official purpose. Finding Chauhan8217;s reply not convincing as it was contradictory to official records, the EC has decided to censure him for violating the provisions of the code. It also directed Chauhan to deposit the cost for the use of the official vehicle in the treasury.
