ANANDPUR SAHIB, APRIL 8: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee released a special issue of The Indian Express to commemorate the Khalsa tercentenary at a special function here this afternoon.

The 84-page issue, published in the form of a magazine, titled Resurgent Punjab8217; is an Indian Express tribute to the spirit of Sikhism, its struggles and successes, as it heads for the new millennium.

A copy of the issue was presented to the Prime Minister by The Indian Express Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta and Chandigarh Regional Manager Rajiv Bhasin.

The special issue has a painting by a leading contemporary artist, Arpana Caur, on its front cover, titled Letters to the Past8217;, and carries specially commissioned articles by eminent authors, historians and Sikh studies scholars including Khushwant Singh, Patwant Singh, J S Grewal and Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia.

Express readers in Chandigarh, will receive a copy of this special issue on April 12, while it will be distributed elsewhere in the country by Baisakhi Day.
