Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh on Thursday took potshots at the Congress suggesting that it was undermining Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by projecting Rahul Gandhi as Prime Ministerial candidate for the next election.

Participating in the discussion on price rise issue in the Rajya Sabha, Jaswant Singh wondered how anyone could be projected as a PM candidate by the ruling alliance when it already has a Prime Minister.

He said the BJP-led NDA was in the opposition and hence was projecting a Prime Ministerial candidate.

8220;What could be the reason behind it when the Lok Sabha elections had not yet taken place,8221; the BJP leader prodded.

He was countered by Congress member P J Kurien who pointed out that even BJP had announced that its leader L K Advani will be party8217;s Prime Ministerial candidate.

Referring to a Congress spokesperson8217;s comments that the party did not want sychopancy, the Leader of Opposition said 8220;you should all refute such a thing8221;.
