The CEO of the Meherangadh Fort Museum Trust Mahendra Singh said the trust is at present in the planning stages of rehashing security arrangements at the Chamunda Devi temple to avoid untoward incidents. 8220;The Maharaja has already expressed the need to change the present entry and exit points and upgrade security arrangements,8221; Singh said.
According to Singh, the barricades that lead to the temple will snake its way up to the hilltop shrine instead of the existing straight path and the number of security guards will also be increased.
8220;The zig zag barricades will ensure no pushing and shoving and would be a metal structure. We are presently constructing a new path to the sanctum sanctorum from the fort to ensure such tragedies don8217;t occur in the future, especially during festivals like Navratri when the number of devotees surges to thousands. The narrow staircase, where the stampede occurred, will no longer be used,8221; said Singh.
