
A top militant of Manipuri outfit, People8217;s Liberation Army PLA, was arrested in Dimapur with two laptops, over a hundred CDs and an external hard disk. The disks contain sensitive information on troop position and movement, database on prominent army and police officials and military combat training manuals.
L Manichandra, known as the PLA deputy chief of Intelligence, was arrested with four others last week by Dimapur police from the busy Duncan Basti in Nagaland8217;s commercial hub. According to highly-placed intelligence sources, two Compaq laptops and an 80 GB external hard disk drive HDD were seized. However, only one laptop could be accessed as the external HDD and second laptop were protected by security codes.
IT experts have been flown in from New Delhi to crack the code and access more than 80 per cent of the approximately 70 GB of data in the second laptop and the external HDD.
