The US will help India in prosecuting pirates who allegedly took over a dhow bearing Indian flag off the coast of Somalia on January 20. The dhow was intercepted and boarded by US sailors on January 22 following International Maritime Bureau, Kuala Lumpur, signal that it was taken over by pirates. Out of the 26-member crew found on the dhow, Safina al Disarat, by the USS Winston S Churchill on January 22, 16 were Indian citizens. They were handed over to Kenya.
