PUNE, June 4: Chairman of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport PCMT committee Baliram Jadhav, in a sharp reaction to the announcement by Pune Muncipal Transport PMT chairman Prakash Lodha that six new routes will be started from July 7 in Pimpri-Chinchwad, said that such an action will only provoke the citizens in the twin township to oppose the PMT.
In a statement issued here, Jadhav said that the PCMT would demand strict action by the Regional Transport Authority RTA against the PMT if the six new routes were begun in Pimpri-Chinchwad limits.
Mayor Madhukar Pawle when contacted said any drastic action by PMT would only aggravate the issue. He commended the decision by the RTA of allotting routes to PCMT in Pune limits up to Katraj, Kothrud, and Hadapsar.
