PCB official rules out meeting on Sahara

The visiting Pakistani cricket official added that the ball is now in India and IMG’s court. But it is unlikely that there will be a change in decision taken by the government on Thursday and the clearance for the tournament has been progressively becoming a remote possibility as the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has worsened.

"It is unfortunate that India has once again pulled out of the Toronto meet. It is a loss for both the teams as well for the sponsors," he said. On whether Pakistan will still participate in the tournament, Nayeem said: "The sponsors IMG has to decide it now. If India stick to its decision then may be we have play against another team. But that depends solely on the sponsors."

Nayeem is accompanied by Zakir Seed, who is also the secretary of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) at the three-day ACF meeting.

India have pulled out of the Sahara Cup series against Pakistan in Toronto for the second year in succession. Last year too, the Indian government had decided not to allow the team to play against Pakistan in Toronto in view of the Kargil War. Thereafter, both Pakistan and India had played three-match series against the West Indies. The Saharan Cup matches were scheduled to be held between September 9 and 17.
