PUNE, Nov 3: The Maharashtra State Electricity Board MSEB has threatened to stop the power supply to the Pune Municipal Corporation PMC if it failed to pay the dues amounting to Rs 90 lakh.

Vijay Kokane, MSEB8217;s Kothrud division engineer, said in a statement that he had already sent a notice to the municipal corporation since it had not paid the dues even after rigorous follow up.Kokane has said the PMC had not paid Rs 90 lakh, which it owed to the MSEB for streetlights in Kothrud division.

He said the MSEB at first stage would cut the supply to the municipal corporation offices other than the street lights. He has threatened that the MSEB would be forced to stop the supply for the streetlights if the PMC did not respond immediately by clearing the dues. Kokane also announced that the MSEB would stop the supply to the Wadia Hospital since it had not paid the dues to the tune of Rs 28 lakh in three years. He said the power supply to the hospital was not stopped so far to avoid inconvenience to patients.
