CHANDIGARH, Nov 17: Outsmarted by burglars again, this time in Dadu Majra Colony on Monday, the police have set-up patrolling units in the UT villages and colonies even as police officials revealed that the burglaries were suspected to be the doings of two different gangs.
A senior official confirmed that 38 patrolling parties, comprising police personnel and villagers, have been set up for thikri pehras and creating check-points. Besides, three Police Control Room Gypsys have been allotted for maintaining vigil in the villages, he said.
He added that the possibility of the remaining members of the kale kachhewale gang having reorganised themselves as a gang of burglars could not be ruled out.
The City police add that the suspected gang of burglars who have struck terror in the UT villages are suspected to be camping either in the City or on the outskirts. quot; They appear to be a gang of more than three or four persons who are from an economically weak background, quot; sources said. The police, meanwhile, claim to have made arrangements for quot;keeping a checkquot; on jhuggi dwellers in the City who return home between midnight and the wee hours of the morning. As quot;this is the time when this group strikesquot;, an official said.
