PASSION KUNAL KOHLI, WHAT’S COOKING?

MY PASSION for making good cinema is as strong as my love for cooking. I love being the cre-ator— behind the camera as well as in the kitchen. Cooking, according to me, is the best possible stress-buster. There’s noth-ing like cooking after a hard day’s work or during weekends. And it helps that my wife is not as avid a cook as I am.

I don’t follow recipe books— may be because I am a stickler for originality. I’d rather create my own recipes. Though this kind of ‘sponta-neous’ cooking gives me a high, it has its downside too. To begin with, I can never repeat a particular dish. Once in the mood for action, my culinary skills chart their own course. For instance, I may set out to cook Chinese, but end up doing Italian. I often make pasta for my friends; I can always be trusted to dish out some neat Chinese and Continental stuff.

All said and done, I am not very good at cooking everyday food. And I cannot make dal at all. That’s because I can’t op-erate the pressure cooker for the life of me.
