CHANDIGARH, Oct 7: A rickshaw-puller was reportedly stabbed by his passenger in the wee hours today morning. He has been admitted to the PGI, where his condition is stated to be critical.
According to police sources, the rickshaw-puller, who was later identified as Ravinder, was stabbed in the abdomen somewhere on the road dividing Sectors 18 and 19 at about 4.00 a.m.
He was spotted by a few rickshaw-pullers and was subsequently rushed to the General Hospital, Sector 16, in a police Gypsy, a police officer said. He added that since the wound was deep he was referred to the PGI, where he was operated upon later in the day.
Police believe that Ravinder was stabbed by a passenger who had hired the rickshaw from the Inter State Bus Terminus in Sector 17. A case of attempt to murder has been registered and the police have begun investigations.
