61 free symbols for LS polls
JAIPUR: Independents contesting the February 16 Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan will have a wide ranged choice of 61 free symbols, ranging from aeroplane to a hand pulled cart and fountain pen to swords. A spokesman said that the Election Commission has declared 61 symbols as free symbols for Rajasthan.
PDP seats
KOCHI: Dejected at the cold response of the Congress to its demands, the People8217;s Democratic Party PDP today announced its decision to contest 17 of the 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala and released the list of party candidates. Releasing the list to the press, PDP chairman Abdul Nassermahdani said the party would also field candidates for two of the three assembly seats for which by-election was to be held along with the Lok Sabha poll.
Jolt for MDMK
CHENNAI: The Marumalarchi DMK MDMK of V Gopalsamy, an ally of the AIADMK-BJP front in Tamil Nadu, suffered yet another severe jolt with Madurantakam Arumugam, party political affairs committee member, resigning from the party on Saturday. Arumugam is the second senior leader to leave the party.
