
VADODARA, Nov 29: Shashikant Parmar of Sankheda taluka of the district, who was alleged to have brought tribal youths to the Ishu Jeevan Darshan8217; programme organised by the Alpha Missionary Movement here in the last week of October, presented himself before the Fatehgunj police officials on Friday night.
DCP North P K Valera said that Parmar reached the Fatehgunj police station at 9.30 p.m. and was set free at 9.35 p.m. because he had already been granted anticipatory bail by the Vadodara district court. 8220;When an accused has obtained a bail from the court, only his arrest is shown in the record and he is allowed to go immediately after he presents himself before the police8221;, Valera said.
He said that Parmar, accompanied by two of his advocates, had come to the police station on Friday night to give his statements with regard to the FIR filed against him.
The FIR lodged against Parmar under section 153 C of the IPC, on the basis of a complaint made by a tribal youth Chetan Tadvi, had stated that Parmar had brought tribal youths to attend the programme and convert their religion.
