Trot on, Jaswant
If you were to ask a horse to list his friends, Jaswant Singh8217;s name is sure to figure somewhere at the top. The Finance Minister8217;s passion for horses is well-known. So during a Rajya Sabha discussion on the mid-year review of the economy, Singh compared himself to a tonga pony and turned to the members, saying: 8216;8216;The pony does receive a little pat at the end of the day.8217;8217; The statement had the elders in splits and even Deputy Chairperson Najma Heptulla couldn8217;t check herself. She said, 8216;8216;You can8217;t be equated with a pony.8217;8217;
A Language Problem
When he is upset, former PM Chandrashekhar speaks his mind out instead of letting it all bottled up inside. It all happened when Minister of State for Home I.D. Swami, responding to a demand during a calling attention notice, informed the Lok Sabha that the Government was considering a high-powered committee on inclusion of Bhojpuri, Maithili and Santhali in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Chandrashekhar, who felt the Government could do better by implementing Hindi properly than going around creating committees, said: 8216;8216;Where is the Government taking the country? Hindi has not yet been made an all-India language and we are talking of including 35 languages in the Eighth Schedule.8217;8217;

In a written reply during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State for Personnel Vasundhara Raje said that the CBI had filed chargesheets against 460 officials in courts of law.
Saffron Splash
In the true spirit of the saffron wave in Gujarat, newly elected member of Lok Sabha from Mehsana Thakor Punjaji Sadaji made his maiden appearance in the House, sporting a saffron turban. And probably to drive home the message of Gujarati Gaurav, he also chose to take his oath in Gujarati.
