
Pakistan8217;s high-profile cricket tour of India will go ahead as scheduled despite the imposition of Emergency in that country.
8220;Of course, we will continue to play. We have come here to play cricket and we will continue to play cricket8221;, said Pakistan team manager Talat Ali.
Asked if there is any pressure on the team following imposition of the Emergency, he said said 8220;no, no pressure at all8221;.
Replying to another question, Ali said the development would not affect Pakistan team8217;s tour of India.
Pakistan team8217;s Media Manager Ehsan Malik said 8220;as far as we are concerned, we have not received any instructions from the Pakistan Cricket Board. We are continuing to do what we have been doing8221;.
The team, which arrived in India on Thursday, will play five one-dayers and three Tests during their 40-day tour of India. The first one-dayer will be played in Guwahati on Monday.
Pakistan8217;s President Pervez Musharraf imposed a state of emergency in the wake of a rapid deterioration in the security situation and growing uncertainty over his position in the face of a legal challenge to his re-election in uniform.
The team had just returned to their hotel from a practice session at the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium when news of the imposition of emegency broke out late in the evening.
Most of the players watched the television in their rooms to know about the developments back home.
The team is scheduled to leave for Guwahati tomorrow for the first one-dayer.
