Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions along LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the second ceasefire violation in as many days, a senior army officer said on Friday.

Pakistani soldiers fired on Indian position in Tarkundi belt along Line of Control in Poonch district 2100 hours on Thursday night, the officer said.

The intermittent firing continued for over an hour.

Indian troops did not respond to the 8220;provocative8221; acts. 8220;This is second ceasefire violation by the Pakistan in less than 24 hours along LoC in J038;K8221;, he said.

On November 26, Pakistani troops fired on Indian post in Khour Border Out Post along LoC in Jammu district in which one Havaldar Pratap Singh of 9 Raj Rifles was critically injured.

The violation of the four-year-old truce came despite an assurance from Islamabad last month that no cross firing would be resorted to.

Two BSF jawans were injured shelling from Pakistan on Indian posts of Durga and Naka-11 in Jammu border on November 4.

This is 38th ceasefire violation since January this year and seventh in Sabzian sub-sector where two jawans were killed in September.

Also, over 132 infiltration bids have been reported in the last nine months from across the LoC in which 80 militants have been killed.
