Sept 21: According to the legal adviser of the Commonwealth Games, Sharad Rao, Rustom was discovered to have used a drug called protonolol. Though he did not win any medals, his result was nullified and his name removed from the results.
Before the start of the Games, there had been a lot of apprehension over the fate of drug users, since under Malaysian law, there is a provision for death penalty for drug traffickers and users. But Malaysian government and Games organisers had assured that this law would not be used for positive dope test cases in the Commonwealth Games. But it is unlikely Rustom will now ever be allowed to enter Malaysia, since the country does not allow entry to known drug offenders.
