LAHORE, July 25: Pakistan’s Supreme Court said today that the former prime minister Benazir Bhutto will not face any arrest warrants upon her return to the country.

But, she was told to voluntarily appear before a special corruption court that is investigating into her cases. Supreme Court justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddique asked Bhutto’s lawyers to ensure that she appeared in a Lahore court on Monday, the day after she is expected to return to Pakistan from Dubai, where she has been visiting her three children.

Bhutto moved her children to Dubai last year, saying they were not safe in Pakistan. The corruption court issued an arrest warrant on July 16 after she failed to appear in court on charges of failing to declare some of her assets when she filed election papers last year.
