NEW DELHI, Nov 22: Leander Paes, who had to pull out of World Doubles Championships in Hartford due to a bone spur in his left ankle, is also being treated for groin and quadricep injuries. That could keep him out of action for a minimum of two weeks depending on how he is responding to treatment, sources said.
The spur in the bone was diagnosed during tests conducted in Hartford on Friday. Apparently he has been carrying the injury for a couple of weeks and had been carrying on with pain killers. But the ankle injury got worse at Hartford and he was in some pain during the second round robin match.
That also explained the Indian duo8217;s unexpected defeats at the hands of far less accomplished doubles partners. At the moment, Paes is in Hartford getting treated so that he could try and be fit for the Bangkok Asian Games beginning on December 6. He is expected to get back to Orlando, his base in the United States, soon.
