
KHARAR, MAY 31: Sant Mann Singh Pehowawale baptised over about 6,000 persons, including women and children, at Gurdwara Akali Daftar here today.The programme was undertaken with a view to bring a maximum number of people into the fold of the Khalsa Panth on the occasion of the ongoing tercentenary celebrations, said Sant Mann Singh during a chat with The Indian Express.
He said amrit has been administered today to one lakh people at 11 different places in the state including Kharar, Lalru, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Mansa, Moga, Patran, Nawanshahr, Maachhiwara and Gurdwara Neem Sahib.
Sant Mann Singh, who is a prominent member of the Sant Samaj, said he had already performed on ardaas before the Almighty to bless him for undertaking the programme of amrit paan.
Meanwhile, great enthusiasm prevailed among the local residents especially the Sikhs over the today8217;s programme of baptism. The local Gurdwara Akali Daftar, where the ceremony was performed, remained the hub of activity the whole day. A spokesman of the gurdwara, Gurdev Singh Kapoor, informed that langar was also organised on the occasion.
The helicopter in which Sant Mann Singh arrived here also remained a centre of attraction for the local residents, especially the children.
