Bored of your aerobics class? Fed-up with your boring gym routine? Then Sunita Kapoor and Anita Shivdasani have just the thing to energise you. And it’s part of the first anniversary celebrations of their fitness studio, IDEA, at Hughes Road. Every Saturday till Apr 10, they will host a "Happy Hour" exercise class from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm. What makes these classes so special? Well, they will be high energy, sometimes high impact, but never mundane. For instance this Saturday, the interstate level boxing champion Rahul Patil will be taking a boxercise class. Next week there will be a Salsa class. At Rs 100 a session it is worth shaking a leg.

"The highest temperature that can be reached here is 65 degrees centigrade, and the lowest is about five degrees centigrade. That’s edibly warm and suitably chilled," says Oberoi, the mastermind behind the product. After spotting something similar at an exhibition in Hong Kong, he decided to try and recreate the magic. After dabbling in the manufactureof radios and fax machines, this seemed a logical progression. At least to him. "It’s something that you can carry with you, or keep in your room. We also supply an adapter so you can apply a direct current to it. And with a one-year guarantee and three-year free after-sales service, the prices are quite reasonable," says Oberoi.

And the going is good, considering that within a month of launching, places like Metro Motors and Akbarally’s have opted to stock Innotec. The price for these little wonders range from Rs 3,900 to Rs 8,900.

Steep challenge

The latest offering from the Hakone Entertainment centre at the Hiranandani Gardens in Powai is an 11-metre wall located bang in the middle of the Western suburbs. For mountain-climbing buffs, there’s no more waiting in the wings till the adventure sports season arrives. You can hop across to Powai and experience the thrills, maybe minus the chills … but whocares?

After an initial plan of providing guides as well as training facilities, Hakone also plans to host treks and races in the future. The tall wall promises to be as successful as their Go-Karting venture, since the concept is just as novel.

Pocket pret

Who says a designer label cannot be pocket savvy? Come April and couturier Krishna Mehta will prove that style and stringent spending go hand in hand. Her latest line is saucy sans formal suits and heavily embroidered evening wear — hand-in-glove with this clothier’s signature style. This time, however, the key word is affordable. And the label is K2 — second Krishna Mehta creation after her couture tag. "After six months of research, I have come up with a complete wardrobe for all needs. There are separates and co-ordinates that can be paired to constitute different looks for any occasion," says Krishna. For, you cannot possibly wear astraight-from-the-couture house evening gown to work. "You need five pret outfits, two leisure dresses and may be two evening ensembles a week. For weekdays, try and find a decent white blouse that could go with both your skirt or trousers! I bet, you can’t. This is where K2 will come into the picture," she says.

So, by cutting down on embroidery by 50 per cent, Krishna has changed her one-time outfits into 10-time outfits. While the style stays unchanged (with detailing as expected from a fashion designer of her repute) the outfits fall perfectly on varied statistics ie increased volumes. "This was possible because we used fabrics that didn’t need any lining or the style is such that not much weave was used. And the price range is Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 for salwar kurtas and Rs 500 to Rs 1,200 for western wear." Still can’t afford it! Then try and get your tailor to copy them.
