A teacher should be an embodiment of intelligence, capability, patience, honesty, sincerity, punctuality, service mindedness and a source of inspiration. In this 20th century, rarely is the service of a teacher recognised. Unless society gives due recognition to these humble artisans who mould young minds, the upliftment of society is impossible.
We observe today, in the world around us, distressing signs of inner vacuum despite spectacular achievements in science and technology. The reason for this is lack of values in human beings. Education aims at transforming individuals into a civilized human being.
The service of imparting values and having a compassionate approach towards the psychological problems of children can be a reality only by teachers of good character and calibre.
The progress of the nation depends on our character. It is said, 8220;destiny is character.8221; What we mean is, it is the capacity to take disappointment smilingly and to work for better results next time. That should be the incentive every teacher should set before all the pupils. Then alone can knowledge play a constructive role in one8217;s life.
