PATIALA, April 6: The Punjab Fencing Association has decided to celebrate tercentanary of the birth of Khalsa in a unique manner by holding All-India Open tournament in November.

Braham Mohindra, president of the association, in a statement here today said that the association has already conveyed the decision to the Fencing Association of India for formal approval and the FAI may also invite a few international fencers from foreign countries.

He said that the association has also formed a committee to pursue the matter of the inclusion of the game in the Inter-University calendar.

The five-member committee will take up the matter with Inter-University Sports Control Board and the other universities.

Mohindra said that reviewing the financial position of the the association decided to take up the matter of clearing the pending grants of the last years with the Punjab Sports Department.

The association has also finalised the annual calender of the state level championships. The senior Punjab State Fencing Championships men and women will be held at Mansa in August and the training camp for the state probables for the the forthcoming Senior Fencing Nationals would also be held at Mansa in September.

The junior and sub-junior state fencing championship would be held at Mukatsar in October. It was also decided that the Punjab teams would participate in the Senior Nationals to be held at Cochin. The Junior Nationals will be held at Nasik.
