
Welcoming the Supreme Court order for 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in institutions of higher education, the Confederation of Other Backward Classes on Thursday said 60 per cent OBC community of the state will benefit from it and also asked the West Bengal government to implement it.
8220;We congratulate the Chief Justice of Supreme Court and other judges for their unanimous verdict for 52 per cent in West Bengal 60 per cent OBC youths who are being deprived for thousands of years,8221; Confederation8217;s General Secretary K C Kapas said.
He said the Confederation demands that the UPA government and the Prime Minister personally intervene so that OBC students got justice from this year.
8220;From our side, we contested this case in the Supreme Court,8221; he added.
The Confederation, Kapas said, would expect the Left Front government to implement it in higher education, including medical and engineering, for the development of socially and educationally backward OBC youths of the state.
