Newly-retired Australian Test pacer Glenn McGrath is being pursued by New South Wales to become their bowling coach.

McGrath, 37, retired from cricket after winning a record third successive World Cup for Australia in the West Indies last April.

8220;I am very keen to make sure that we make use of an Australian legend like Glenn McGrath who is right on our doorstep,8221; state coach Matthew Mott said today. 8220;My forte is batting and at some stage we will be desperate to pick up some bowling expertise there. Whether that8217;s the second-eleven coach or a full-time bowling coach, that8217;s for us to work out.8221;

Mott said he needed to find an appropriate time to speak with McGrath, Test cricket8217;s all-time leading pacer with 563 wickets.

8220;He may want some time off and we8217;ve got to respect that,8221; Mott said.

8220;When the opportunity is right there will be an open door for him to come in and help out, depending on how much work he wants to do, as little or as much as he can give us.8221;

Melbourne: New Zealand Cricket has formed a five-man sub-committee to determine who will coach the national team. NZC chief executive Justin Vaughan said the sub-committee would review the appropriate structure of the position and determine a process to appoint a coach, Sydney Morning Herald reported today.
