NSS volunteers undertake cleanliness drive on PAU campus

As part of the campus beautification drive, over 200 NSS volunteers from College of Agriculture and Home Science of the Punjab Agricultural University cleaned sides of the roads on the campus during their two-day regular activity camps.

As part of the campus beautification drive, over 200 NSS volunteers from College of Agriculture and Home Science of the Punjab Agricultural University cleaned sides of the roads on the campus during their two-day regular activity camps.

According to Dr K.S. Verma, Programme Coordinator, NSS, PAU, the volunteers, both boy and girls, took keen interest and worked together in small groups with spades and khurpas and uprooted and removed the undesired growth of grass along the roads from near Kairon Kisan Ghar, Dr M.S. Randhawa Library, Student8217;s Home and the main road leading to the Thapar Hall.

PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Manjit Singh Kang also joined the volunteers and worked with a spade stacking grass into small heaps. He interacted with the participating boys and girls individually and appreciated the volunteers for the noble cause they have undertaken. Programme officers, Dr T.K. Gill, Dr Sarita Saini and Sandeep Singh were also hailed for their supervision and guidance.

He said that as per the motto of NSS, the students get an opportunity to do something useful for the society. Dr Verma said that PAU NSS unit had earlier participated in several programmes of the UNO such as 8220;Eighth millennium development goal by UNO8221; and 8216;Wake up and speak8217; to eliminate poverty.
