Chandigarh, 3: When asked about his personal reasons for merging the SJP local unit with the Congress, Dhawan said since the SJP had won three seats in the Municipal Corporation, two councillors had defected to the Congress some time ago.

This left the SJP with only one councillor, who happened to be his wife, Satinder Dhawan. quot;With fears that she too might defect, I thought I should switch my loyalties before my wife defected and left me. I only have one wife and I don8217;t want to lose her,quot; he said.
