
New Delhi, April 26: A designated court today issued fresh non-bailable arrest warrant NBW against former chief of A B Bofors, Martin Ardbo, and summons to the successor8217; of the Swedish company in the Rs 64 crore Bofors case.
Special Judge Ajit Bharihoke issued the NBW against Ardbo asking CBI to produce him before the court on June two, the next date of hearing after the agency counsel said the earlier warrant issued against him was still under process.
The court issued fresh summons against the successor of A B Bofors after CBI counsel U S Prasad said the Swedish Government had been requested for ascertaining the actual successor of the company and was expected to reply soon.
Agency officials said Celsius, considered to be the new name of Bofors company, and a sister concern, Nobletech, had refused to accept the court8217;s summons saying they were not successors of A B Bofors.
Win Chadha, who was granted bail in the case last month, moved an application before the court seeking to visit Dubai for his medical treatment. The court would hear the application on Saturday.
Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi failed to appear before the court despite a warrant pending against him and CBI said the Malaysian Government was yet to respond to its request for his extradition.
Besides Chadha, former Defence Secretary S K Bhatnagar also appeared before the court.
CBI alleged that the Bofors company had paid a huge amount of bribe to middlemen and public servants to clinch the deal worth Rs 1,437 crore for the supply of 400-155 mm Howitzer field guns with India despite its undertaking that no middleman would be engaged for the purpose.
