145;No reason to panic, will do well in Champions Trophy146;

8216;No problem8217; with experiments in team, says Harbhajan after signing deal with firm that manages Sachin

.

Knocked out of the DLF Cup in Malaysia, Team India8217;s opening match in the Champions Trophy just over two weeks away, strike spinner Harbhajan Singh has this simple message for millions of cricket fans across the country: don8217;t panic, the team will do well.

Admitting to a deep sense of disappointment at the team8217;s show in Kuala Lumpur, Harbhajan said here today, 8220;We didn8217;t play well as a team so we8217;re all obviously very disappointed. But it is always better to look at the future instead of dwelling on the past. We have a good side and there is no reason to panic. If we play to our potential in the Champions Trophy, we will surely do well.8221;

Happy that he did manage to shine amidst the gloom in Malaysia with six wickets in four matches, the 29-year-old Punjab star added: 8220;I8217;m very happy with whatever I8217;m doing, batting as well as bowling, and am looking forward to the Champions Trophy. We8217;re hoping for a lot of home support.8221;

The 26-year-old Punjab star talked to reporters today after signing a four-year deal with Iconix, the sports management firm that had signed up Sachin Tendulkar this year for a reported Rs 180 crore over the next six years.

Going on to play down recent criticism from former stars against the current spell of experimentation in Team India, Harbhajan said, 8220;Everyone has the right to have an opinion. The team wanted to see how different players performed in different roles, and so we tried this. Personally, I have no problems with it. It is important to assess from time to time if we can fulfil the role that has been given to us.8221;

Asked if the Indian team had moved to a combination where the faster bowlers were the bowling spearheads instead of India8217;s traditional strength, spinners, Harbhajan said that depended on the conditions and circumstances. 8220;Our pacers have won many a match for us, and so have us spinners8230; I have seen a lot of young spinners working hard at the National Cricket Academy, so I don8217;t think spin bowling in India is under any sort of threat. Among the current upcoming lot, Piyush Chawla is a great prospect. And there are many more, playing domestic cricket,8221; he said.
