Despite the storm over Quattrochhi detention, the government on Monday backtracked on the earlier proposal to shorten the first-half of the Budget Session to allow members to campaign for the crucial UP polls. The reason: it is tied down with a heavy legislative business schedule for the session.
Following the Business Advisory Committee meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said the government made a proposal not to reschedule the first phase of session ending on March 21.
