
CHANDIGARH, Feb 23: Dismissing the bail applications of Didar Singh and Amrit Kaur, accused under the Dowry Act, UT Judicial Magistrate Ist Class Tejwinder Singh today sent them to judicial custody till March 8.
Praying for the decline of bail application, the prosecution stated that if released on bail, the accused would not return the jewellery which is due to be recovered. They would also create other problems, it was stated. In an affidavit submitted today in the court, H.S. Sethi, the complainant8217;s brother stated the accused already had plans to leave the country for Singapore.
Stating that there were direct allegations of cruelty and criminal breach of trust of dowry articles and Istridhan of Amita Sethi, the Judge declined the bail plea observing that there was no justification to enlarge the accused on bail and if this was done they might try to flee the country.
Meanwhile, the police today stated that jewellery of the complainant was kept in the locker which the accused have in Som Vihar Branch of UCO Bank, R.K. Puram. On police request, The JMIC directed manager of the said branch to seal operation of the locker till further orders.
Meanwhile, the police also got the arrest warrants in the name of Gagandeep Bakshi, the complainant8217;s husband and Arun Bakshi, the complainant8217;s brother-in-law.
