Bollywood’s ‘‘dream girl’’ Hema Malini today expressed the hope the new NDA dispensation in Bihar to make roads in the state smoother than her cheek.
Recalling how RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav failed to deliver on his promise of turning the state’s roads with potholes, she said, ‘‘I am confident that Bihar’s roads would now be smoother than my cheeks.’’
‘‘The former Chief Minister had promised to make roads in Bihar which could be compared to my cheeks but he miserably failed to keep his word. I am sure the present NDA government under Nitish Kumar will definitely spruce up roads which will be even better than my cheeks,’’ she said while addressing a function here.
The BJP’s Rajya Sabha member, who along with her party colleague Shatrughan Sinha, came to Bihar for the first time after installation of the NDA government, said that during her past visits to the state she had horrible experience travelling by roads which were full of potholes.
She said the first impression she had on reaching the airport today was that the environment of fear, that was all pervasive during the past 15 years, was gone. ‘‘In the changed situation, I am sure more and more artistes from Mumbai and other places will come to Bihar and even shooting of films can be done,’’ she added.
Hema Malini was the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony of 21st Sukhdeo Narain Memorial Cricket Tournament here. Shatrughan Sinha also hailed the end of ‘‘jungle raj’’ in Bihar and hoped the present government would work overtime to live up to people’s expectations.
