Nine ISM students held for hurting cop

Nine students of Indian School of Mines ISM here were arrested and three FIRs were lodged by the Dhanbad police against 250 others for violence, sabotage and injuring an Additional Superintendent of Police here following an incident of eveteasing.

The incident took place when some the ISM students beat up the guardian of two girls who protested at their eveteasing inside a local film theatre last night, DSP Rajiv Ranjan said today. There was a clash between residents, the theatre staff and the students after the residents protested.

The students in turn called up their friends at the institute which led to over 500 more students storming the film theatre and vandalising it.

When ASP M P Lakra reached the spot, the students rejected his overtures, charged at him and broke his hand, Ranjan said.
