Demolition Structures in Sec 26 razed
The enforcement staff of UT Estate Office today demolished certain structures in a SCO in Sector 26, after the same were found to be "illegal" and did not conform to building bye-laws. Sources say the enforcement staff along with a large police force removed the "illegal" structures in the morning.

Course for SUPW teachers begins
A 21-day in-service education course for SUPW teachers of Kendriya Vidyalayas of eight regions began at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, 3 BRD Air Force Station. Course director, Hargopal, in his welcome address highlighted the role of work experience in our daily life. Earlier, J.D. Kalra, Assistant Commissioner of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, in his inaugural speech stressed upon the need of making the country self-sufficient in the filed of technology.

RJD to contest panches poll
The Rashtriya Janata Dal, has in its meeting held here today, declared that the party will contest the elections for panches and sarpanches in the city, according to a statement issued here.MHC residents block traffic
A number of residents of Modern Housing Complex, Manimajra, today reportedly blocked traffic on the Chandigarh-Panchkula road to protest against the poor water supply. They were later removed by the police. No untoward incident was reported.

200 vaccinated against Hepatitis
A Hepititis-B vaccination camp was organised by Booth Market Association and Sector 7 Residents Welfare Society, where about 200 people were vaccinated. According to a statement issued here, two subsequent camps will be held on June 28 and November 29 for the second and third doses, respectively

Scribes form Guild
Like-minded journalists of the city have formed a Young Journalists Guild. In the first meeting held here yesterday, it was decided that the Guild would, besides taking up the cause of occupational hazards by the journalists, organise activities like media discussions and talks by senior journalists and professionals from other fields. A six-member committee was elected today to fight the cause of journalists.

Minor fire in Indl Area
A minor fire broke out at a unit in Industrial Area today evening. According to fire department officials, waste materials and paper accidently caught fire at about 5.45 p.m.. Three fire tenders were pressed into service. Chief Fire Officer Darshan Singh claimed that the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained. Fire department officials feel that the fire was probably ignited by a spark emanating from a cigarette. No major loss was reported.
