New feat in safety management

Safety is Gujarat Refinery8217;s priority and it maintains a well-knit safety system. Refinery8217;s two fire stations are well-equipped with modern accessories. The Refinery has also worked out an on-site emergency management plan to meet any eventuality. Regular fire and safety training programmes are conducted for Refinery employees, CISF personnel, contract labour and Tank Truck drivers. Safety system and equipments include multipurpose fire tender with High Volume Long Range HVLR monitors, self fire detection and automatic extinguishing system for tanks. Also, moulded bullets have been provided in Gujarat Refinery for safer LPG storage. Close circuit TVs have also been provided at important locations of the Refinery to constantly monitor safety operations.

Gujarat Refinery has been awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour8217; award instituted by the British Safety Council twice.

Oil conservation fortnight: Gujarat Refinery organised a number of mass awareness programmes during the Oil Conservation Fortnight organised from January 16 to 31. Railway employees were given awards and certificates for excellence in oil conservation.

An awareness campaign was also launched for autorickshaw drivers. A raffle draw was taken out and cash prizes given by P S Rao, Executive Director, Gujarat Refinery and R C Jena, Divisional Railway Manager, Western Railways. Quiz, slogan-writing, and painting contests were also held for oil conservation awareness.
