
VADODARA, SEPT 12: Students of MS University can now surf the Internet for a charge as low as Rs 20 for an hour during the day and Rs 15 per hour during the evening. The venue? The university8217;s own cybercafe, to be inaugurated on Wednesday at its computer centre.
Rumi Mistry, officer on special duty planning, said donations from abroad, especially from alumunis of MSU settled in California, made the cybercafe a reality. Mistry told the Express Newsline that 8220;at present we have 15 nodes.8221; Mistry added that it was already on line, but the lines were at present on lease.
8220;The proposal for a cybercafe was raised during the time of former vice-chancellor Padma Ramchandran, but funds were a problem,8221; Mistry said. A discussion with alumnus of the university settled in California, however, made the cybercafe a reality for the students and professors.
The main donors were Amit Shah and Ajay Shah and their wives. The net address of the cybercafe will be surfland.-msu. Mistry added that there was a proposal to increase the number of nodes in future as student response increases.
He added that one of the donors, Amit Shah, will deliver a lecture about the cybercafe at the seante hall of the university on Monday.
