HYDERABAD, OCT 10: Nehru zoo park curator and Conservator of Forests B Trinadha Rao has been transfered in the wake of the ghastly killing of a tigress in the zoo a few days ago.
Sources said that the government initially wanted to place him under suspension but deferred the action as it would have required ratification from the Central government since Rao belonged to the IFS cadre. The transfer orders are likely to be issued tomorrow.
Perturbed over the incident, the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has decided to send two officials – IGP (Wildlife) S C Sharma and Director of Project Tigers Sen – to the city to inquire into the ghastly killing of the tigress. They are expected to reach here in a day or two, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, employees of the Nehru zoo park have deferred their proposed indefinite strike from tomorrow in protest against alleged harassment by the police investigating the killing. The staffers complained that they were being taken to the police station without even informing the zoo authorities.
The staffers of the zoo observed a token strike during the visit of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to the zoo in protest against the attitude of the police, on Saturday.
