
NEW DELHI, October 7: Himachal Pradesh Ranji Trophy team skipper, Rajiv Nayyar, established a record for batting averages, while playing for Leycett Cricket Club as a professional in English Minor Counties. He aggregated 1,288 runs from 22 matches for an average of 158 to break the earlier mark of J. Jarvis who had 113.8, according to reports reaching here.
Rajiv remained unbeaten in 14 matches and struck five centuries with his highest individual score being 120 against Meir Health Club. In fact, he remained unbeaten in nine out of his first 10 innings, hitting four hundreds for an average of 611. Rajiv Nayyar also claimed 48 wickets, including a hat-trick against Bristone Club.
Leycett Club, which began the season at the 10th spot in the standings, finished the season at the fourth position. Nayyar has signed the contract with Leycett for the next season as well.
In domestic cricket, he has scored over 4,000 runs with 12 centuries and 24 half-centuries.
