An interesting bit of trivia, but true. It would be the first time that a foreign coach Bob Houghton would lead an Indian challenge against Bangladesh, a foreign team, led by an Indian Syed Nayeemuddin. Apart from that there is nothing trivial about India8217;s crucial match against the neighbours in the ONGC Nehru Cup tournament.

After a resounding 6-0 win over Cambodia in the opening match of the five-nation tournament, India8217;s English coach Houghton is in no mood to take his predecessor8217;s outfit, who lost 0-2 to Syria in their first match on Saturday, lightly.

8220;It is difficult to draw conclusions from Bangladesh8217;s performance against Syria. We would be presenting them a very different kind of challenge from what they got from Syria,8221; Hougton told The Indian Express after a training session in the Capital today.

8220;I have been informed that Bangladesh have traditionally been tricky customers for India, so there is no question of taking any team lightly. We are here to win and we would like to do the same against Bangladesh,8221; he added.

The signs of Houghton8217;s year-long efforts with the team were at full view when India, like a well drilled outfit, toyed with the Cambodian defence.

Captain Bhaichung Bhutia, who a year back had given up and only joined the team at Houghton8217;s behest, packed more punch than what has been on the view over the last five years.

8220;Houghton8217;s has had a very good influence on the entire team. Now almost every one is performing to the best of his potential and that is the difference an inspirational coach can bring to a side,8221; said Bhutia.

About tomorrow8217;s match against his former guru Syed Nayeemuddin8217;s side, Bhutia said: 8220;It is going to be interesting. Nayeem Sir knows us very well and we too have a good experience of playing against Bangladesh. So it would be an interesting match tomorrow.8221;

Midfield general NP Pradeep, who was in sublime form till he contacted a knee injury against Cambodia, will sit out tomorrow. 8220;We don8217;t want to take any chances with Pradeep, so we have decided to rest him for tomorrow8217;s match. Mehrajoodin Wadoo will start in his place. The rest of the team will be the same that turned out against Cambodia,8221; said Houghton.

Nayeemuddin, on the other hand, has no qualms about taking on India and believes his side has a good chance against the hosts.

8220;Bangladesh have always been a tough customer for India and we would make sure it is no different this time,8221; he said.
