MUMBAI, Nov 15: Indian Navy is waiting for the state government to commit funds for the Rs 76 crore project for conversion of the decommissioned aircraft carrier Vikrant into a maritime heritage museum, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat said today.
He was replying to queries by mediapersons about the delay in the start of the project even after the Mumbai Port Trust MbPT sanctioned space for it at two alternative sites.
Admiral Bhagwat said after the state government released funds for the project, it was just a matter of procedure for the Navy to submit the files to Defence Minister George Fernandes.
During his visit here early last month, Fernandes had said the Vikrant file was yet to be placed before him for his signature.
